Brotherhood & Sisterhood

Being change agents in our neighborhood starts early.

The Brotherhood and Sisterhood is a leadership development and job-readiness program for middle school students that introduces them to becoming community change agents. Through team building, community service projects, and leadership workshops, young people emerge as confident young women and men, empowered to live out the best version of themselves.

During the six-week summer program, students learn about justice issues affecting their community and reflect on what they and others can do to create change. They get hands-on experience with various community projects, like creating public art benches, caring for community greenspaces, volunteering at local non-profit organizations, and more.

The Brotherhood-Sisterhood is for youth ages 12-14. The program is Monday through Thursday from 12:15 – 4:15 PM for 6 weeks of the summer. Youth receive a stipend (average $400-$500) for successfully completing the program.
