Public Art

What makes a neighborhood beautiful?

Neighbors were asked, “What makes a neighborhood beautiful?” Their response was “Trees, Flowers, the People, and ART.” The Boston Project is committed to increasing both visual and the performing arts in our community. Since 2018, we have had an Artists in Action leadership and workforce development program for teens. These young people have worked with professional artist including muralist Alex Cook to create beautiful works of art in our community.

The teens also work with neighbor leaders to develop and host our Family Fun Night summer series which brings various cultural performing artists to Elmhurst Park. We have steel pan bands, live jazz music, salsa lessons, African dance, and paint nights. The summer culminates in a teen-led “Big Event” featuring artistic performances developed by our youth.
