Can I receive college credit for my summer staff position?

Can I raise additional financial support?
As stated in the Pay & Benefits page, we provide summer staff with housing, food, and a financial stipend. If you have financial needs above the offered stipend, we are able to assist you in raising support. The Boston Project is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, so all donations are income tax deductible. The summer schedule is rigorous, so we suggest working on raising support prior to coming into training. When is time off? What about special events (weddings, etc.)?
The Boston Project provides time off for rest and recovery during two longer staff breaks and weekends. Most weekends from Friday 2:00pm to Sunday 2:00pm are off, with a few exceptions where time off starts at 5:00 pm on Friday (see summer schedule). This usually provides adequate time for staff to attend weddings or other family events. If there are extenuating circumstances, staff are able to take off an additional 2 days if approval is given with two weeks notice. Because of the length (10-12 weeks) and intensity of a summer staff position, we encourage staff to take additional time off only when absolutely necessary. It is important for staff to be committed to the summer schedule as fully as possible.
Can I bring my car?
Please contact us if you would like to bring your car for the summer since there is limited parking in our neighborhood. Directors will most likely use their cars on a consistent basis for program-related travel, and staff counselors may occasionally need to. The Boston Project reimburses program-related driving on a mileage basis. Parking is usually on-street. While damage and theft of cars is not a common problem it has happened in the past. The Boston Project Ministries cannot be held responsible for any damage done to, or theft of, your vehicle or items in it.What about safety?
The Boston Project is located in an inner-city environment. As a summer staff you will join our year-round staff as we live and work in this community. We believe that God is the only one who can guarantee absolute safety, regardless of where we live or work. That is why our first step in safety is prayer. Second, you will be trained in First Aid & CPR, as well as in how to recognize and respond to safety concerns. Third, as a ministry we are always listening to community leaders, law enforcement officials and street workers to learn how to safely run our programs and guide those who are in our care. What is staff community life like?
The Boston Project values shared life as a community. Summer staff regularly share meals as a family and live in community throughout the summer, whether it is with other summer staff, year-round staff, or youth groups. There are 2-4 summer staff apartments. These consist of bedrooms for 2-6 people, living space, a kitchen and bathroom. Some staff apartments may be co-ed, but bedroom space will always be separated by gender.
