The Boston Project needs a skilled people with a pastor's heart to invest in our relationships with neighbors and other ministries while overseeing painting, carpentry, landscaping, and other service projects at neighbors' homes or ministry/non-profit locations. Construction skills helpful. Provide training for staff and youth and maintain an inventory of service supplies.

Service & Outreach Coordinator Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a summer service and outreach schedule.
  • Ensure diversity of service projects for each youth group.
  • Maintain the storage and care of tools and equipment in our tool garage.
  • Prepare service projects for youth groups by maintaining community relationships, making site visits, creating goals with neighbors and service partners, and scheduling service days.
  • Prepare youth groups for service projects by writing daily (detailed) directions and goals, assembling tools, overseeing and trouble-shooting 3-4 service sites per day.
  • Provide technical oversight of painting, landscaping, carpentry, and other projects. Provide tool and skill training for staff and youth as needed.
  • Ensure positive closure to projects (i.e. putting finishing touches on projects, evaluating with neighbors and service partners, etc.)
  • Evaluate all service and outreach with other SMP directors during and after the summer.

Qualifications

  • A pastor's heart - caring for youth participants and our neighbors.
  • Construction skills preferred, small engine repair skills helpful.
  • Experience in youth work (preferred but not required).
  • Have the physical ability to work a full day (4-5 days in a row).
  • At least 22 years of age.

Time Commitment

June 7, 2009 - August 18, 2009
