The Boston Project operates two summer programs - Neighborhood Youth Ministries (NYM) and the Summer Missions Program (SMP).

As you think about working with us, we want you to understand the focus of each program and ways you can serve within each. These programs run at the same time, each with its specific Kingdom-mission, staff, and schedule. This chart outlines some of the major differences.

For a more in-depth look at each program, you can go to the program web pages (see the links in the chart below).

Neighborhood Youth Ministries Summer Missions Program
Mission We want to see urban youth supported in their development and engaged in positive activities that encourage them socially, spiritually, academically and physically. We want to see teenagers challenged to grow in their Christian faith through intense discipleship and meaningful service and outreach.
Who will I mainly work with? NYM staff work with children and youth (ages 4-17) from the neighborhood where The Boston Project is located. You will also interact and cooperate with parents/guardians, neighborhood residents and community leaders. SMP staff work with teenagers and adults from youth groups around the country (suburban, rural, and urban youth). You will also build relationships with community residents, leaders, churches, and other service organizations.
What will I do? You will be in relational ministry with urban young people while planning and running daily summer programs. You may also lead bible studies, supervise field trips, and organize large community events. You will live, work, and play with youth groups 24/7 during their mission trips to Boston. You will lead them in worship and devotions, daily service projects, discussions, and nightly activities (including a small group).
Where will I live? You will live in a neighborhood staff house provided by The Boston Project. You will live with youth groups in churches during the week. On weekends you will live in a neighborhood staff house provided by The Boston Project.
