Painting - one way to serve with The Boston Project.

More than a short-term missions organization

The Boston Project is a year-round community ministry committed to serving people and organizations in Boston. Rather than "setting up shop" for the summer, The Boston Project staff and ministry lives in the heart of the neighborhood where we serve. We have built relationships characterized by integrity and trust with our neighbors and partner service organizations in Boston. We have the ability to respond quickly to immediate needs of residents, and to participate in facilitating long-term community change.

Solid Christ-centered, justice-themed curriculum

If you have been wondering how you can involve your youth in meaningful projects serving the poor and encourage them to THINK through the issues of WHY people are poor and what our response (and responsibility) should be as Christians, then The Boston Project is for you. Our staff lead your group through a well-planned curriculum, based on our summer Scripture theme (Micah 6:8, Luke 4, Nehemiah, and Matthew 22:36-40 have been past themes). This includes an in-depth devotional guide, group discussion times, thought-provoking simulation games, and guided small group conversations.

A high staff-to-youth ratio of 1:5

This allows our staff to build strong relationships with every single youth (and youth leaders, too)! Our staff is with you 24 hours a day walking through the entire experience together. These incredible young men and women are devoted to helping your youth grow in their understanding of God, our city, and what God requires of them - in Boston and when they go home. On average, we devote a 5-member Boston Project staff team to each group of 25 participants. You'll begin to feel like we're a family from family-style dinners, free time with our staff, small service teams of 3-10 people, and small group times throughout the week.

Variety of service & outreach projects

Our passion is for your youth to discover their gifts and talents. Your youth will have the opportunity to serve in several different types of neighborhood ministry. We involve your youth in painting, praying, organizing, singing, cooking, moving, creating green spaces, working with kids, serving the homeless, drywall repair, lawn mowing, and more!

We do the planning work for you

The Boston Project provides a complete short-term missions experience for your group. A Scripture theme guides our curriculum (including interactive teaching activities, "The Challenge" devotional guide and journal, and debriefing sessions. We coordinate all service and outreach projects, and provide necessary tools and skill training. Our pre- and post-trip support is essential to ensure your time in Boston is effective for our service partners and your teenagers. Ultimately, one of the key ways we empower your teenagers for meaningful service and outreach is by helping you enter into the dynamics of ministry unique to our city.
