Serving our Neighbors
Since the beginning of our ministry, The Boston Project has had the opportunity to serve our neighborhood residents with small and large projects around their homes. We also assist local churches and non-profits that don't may have limited resources to meet specific needs or do special projects. Most of this work is accomplished with the help of hundreds of volunteers each year and donated tools and supplies. The Need
As people seek to live and thrive in our community, there are many barriers and challenges that can be overwhelming. Many times, the regular pressures of life tend to be compounded by the need to work long hours to support families, the high cost of rent and living, negligent landlords, or a lack of support systems. We meet many seniors who have raised families here, but now live alone as their house deteriorates around them. Or families who struggle to put food on the table, much less have the time or finances to make necessary repairs. Even doing simple things like painting a room a nice color, planting a flower box, or cleaning out a basement can be a huge blessing for neighbors who face much bigger problems.
We do not require people to meet certain requirements to receive our help. If they ask, then we do what we can.
Giving and Receiving
Almost all of our home repairs and neighbor services are completed by volunteers from our own community and around the country. However, we believe our volunteers receive as much as they give. We do our best to foster relationships between our neighbors who receive these services and those that give them, so that both are enriched and inspired.Examples of How We Serve
