Last Updated September 28, 2011Summer Childrens Programs

Our Summer of Discovery is designed for children ages 5-12 and focuses on helping young people discover their purpose. By engaging and exposing children to a variety of fitness and arts activities, Bible Club and special events we aim to help them identify their own skills, passions, and interests at a young age. Our Summer of Discovery schedule will run Monday through Thursday from 12:30-4:30 pm at Elmhurst Park.

All activities are free and drop-in. This is not a summer camp. Children must be able to return home quickly if inclement weather arises or if there is an emergency. We provide a healthy snack around 2:00 PM for anyone who is at the park.

Monday Fun Fitness and Gardening

Fun Fitness is designed to encourage children to develop healthy eating and physical activity habits. It includes nutrition lessons, sport clinics like double-dutch, kickball, karate, and active group games lead by our staff. Children are taught about gardening and are involved in our outdoor garden classroom at 106 Norfolk Street (a children's community garden 400' away from Elmhurst Park).

Tuesday Creative Arts

A combination of activities including traditional arts & crafts along with dance, poetry, and drama. Children practice performances to be showcased at our end-of-the-summer Big Event at Elmhurst Park.

Wednesday Bible CLUB and Peace Games

A once-a-week, one hour Bible CLUB has been part of our neighborhood for 10+ years. Children are introduced to biblical principals and Jesus' teachings at an age-appropriate level. Peace Games follow and are used to teach our young children conflict resolution skills while having fun.

Thursday Special Events

It's always fun to break up the summer routine with special events that children love! In the past, events have included Bike Day, Water Fun Day, Wacky Science Day, Junkyard Sports, and the summer's closing Big Event!
