Neighborhood kids at the homework center.

In the fall of 1999, God stirred our hearts to deepen our relationships with children and youth in our neighborhood. In response to two 10 year-olds asking for math homework, we began to invite young people over after-school in our living room for academic help. What started out as two young people quickly became 4, 6, 8, and then 12!

Within a year's time, The Boston Project rented an apartment for dedicated program and office space. In 2003, we purchased our current home at 15 Elmhurst Street where the entire 1st floor is dedicated to youth and community outreach programs. We call this our Neighborhood Ministry House.

In 2011, The Homework Center continues to be a safe, quiet environment where students can come to work on their schoolwork. In addition to homework help, we provide students with healthy snacks and friendship building activities. When the weather is nice, we also provide staffing at Elmhurst Park (two doors down from our house) for children to play once their homework is complete.

The Homework Center is free and drop-in.
Registration form needs to be completed by a parent/guardian.
Staffing includes two adults and additional youth and adult volunteers.
