Regular Volunteers Needed During School Year

Wondering how you can get involved beyond a donation? Give your time! Spend one afternoon or evening each week investing in our community. We have opportunities to serve in Homework Center, Bible studies, communications (graphic design), and more. Also needed are volunteers skilled in plumbing, electrical, masonry, and carpentry. TNT Neighbor of the Year - Gail Granville

This year, long-time resident and activist Gail Granville was selected by as our 2012 Neighbor of the Year. Gail has a strong history in loving her neighbors - with a special concern for children and youth. She has co-led neighborhood associations, taught children how to sew, serves on the TNT Steering Committee and Millennium Ten Initiative, and has helped develop and maintain local gardens. Above all, she is known as caring, generous, wise, and a true friend. Congratulations!

Being Thankful for My Community - 2012 Photos!

Saturday, December 1st - Volunteer Day

On Saturday, December 1 from 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM, we invite you to come serve with us in our final fall neighborhood clean up. Volunteers can join us and the Youth Council for an orientation, outdoor projects, cookies, and reflection. Contact Ben to sign up.

TNT Youth Council - New Applicants Welcome

Teenagers who live in or near the Talbot-Norfolk Triangle neighborhood are invited to apply to participate in our 2012-2013 TNT Youth Council. 6-10 youth will be selected to participate in this paid internship focused on leadership development and youth creating solutions to community issues. Mission Trip Director (FT) Position

We are accepting applications for our full-time Mission Trip Director position through January 15, 2012 with a start date in February 2012. This person will organize and direct all overnight mission trips for youth, college, and adult groups coming to serve in Boston's urban neighborhoods. Community Garden Volunteer Day

Join with neighbors on Saturday, Oct. 8 from 10:00 AM-2:00 PM to help finish building the garden beds at our new children's community garden. Located at 106 Norfolk Street, our final projects this fall include spreading mulch, planting shrubs, and adding dirt to the garden beds. Contact Paul to volunteer or just show up!

Four (4) Tutors Needed for Homework Center

High school, college students and adults are invited to help youth ages 4-14 at our drop-in Homework Center. Flexible volunteer hours available on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday afternoons (October-May). Contact Dana to learn more or to receive a volunteer application.

Americorps Position Available - October 2011

We are looking for a person skilled and passionate about working with elementary age children to join our Neighborhood Youth Ministries team through a local AmeriCorps partnership. This is initially a one-year commitment from October 2011-2012 (can be extended up to 4 years). Contact if you are interested.

Website Design Help Needed

Our neighborhood group, the Talbot-Norfolk Triangle Neighbors United, would like to have a web presence. We are looking for a person with experience to help us design a simple and fresh website to share the great stories of what is happening here in our neighborhood! Internships Available - Designed for You

If you are a college or graduate student in the Boston area looking for a semester-based internship, consider The Boston Project. Fair Trade T-Shirts - Business Team

Development/Fundraising Position Open

The Boston Project is looking for a person to join our staff team in the area of development; particularly grant writing, building relationships with foundations, churches, and individual donors, and researching new sources of funding. Applicant should have a heart for Christian community development work and be willing to do other jobs within the organization beyond fundraising. Strong writing skills and a great personality are key. This is an entry level position - a good match for someone who is looking to start in the field of non-profit fundraising work and is flexible. 2009 Summer Staff - Summer Missions Program

2009 Summer Staff - Neighborhood Youth Ministries

We will hire 1+ young adults to serve as staff for children's programs, 2+ Park Patrol (our youth environmental program), and a person to help host our Teen Cafe (new). Applications are on-line. Homework Center Volunteers Needed

College students and adults are invited to help youth ages 4-16 at our drop-in Homework Center. Flexible volunteer hours available on Monday or Thursday evenings or Tuesday through Thursday afternoons. Contact us or use our online volunteer application. This is a good match for school internships and work study students.

Saying Goodbye (sniff, sniff)

With joy and sadness, we share that three of our wonderful staff are headed off this December 2008. Kelly Desmarais, Katie Rice, and Catrina Labrie impacted our youth and volunteers in hundreds of ways. Click on their name to send them an email of appreciation. We will miss them immensely.

Planting 3,000 Tulips for Spring Splash of Color

Come join us on Saturday, October 25 and November 8, to help plant 3,000 tulips along the fence line of the historic Codman Burying Ground. This massive effort is to help transform this cemetery from a place symbolizing death and abandonment to one characterized by light and life! Contact Paul if you would like to volunteer.

Be An Apprentice/Intern

We invite college students and recent graduates to join us for 3 months to two years for a purposeful work experience. Apprenticeships and Internships allow you to work with long-term staff in areas such as children and youth work, missions trip coordination, community organizing, communications, development, and non-profit administration.

Thanksgiving and Christmas Volunteers

Consider helping us this year by collecting food and preparing Thanksgiving Baskets for families in our neighborhood (November 22), or by preparing delicious home-made food for our annual Christmas Banquet for those homeless in partnership with Starlight Ministries (December 13). Prepare a Special Meal for Summer Staff

Friends of The Boston Project help us care for our hard-working summer staff in many ways. Consider having your small group or yourself prepare a meal for our staff at Wednesday dinner or Friday lunch. Your care means a lot to our staff. We feed 15-20 young adults at each of these meals. Contact to help out.

Historic Burial Ground Rebeautification

Extra hands are welcome to join us on Saturday, May 10, 2008 for our first clean up of the year on the historic Codman Burial Ground. Volunteers from Second Church in Dorchester, Park Street Church, Boston Trinity Academy, and neighbors will be working together to paint a fence, mow the lawn, clean up debris in anticipation of a Memorial Day opening. Guest Web and Video Production Instructor

Six (6) teenagers are looking for qualified person to teach them how to develop a website and/or produce a short video. Our winter Park Patrol leadership development program is enhancing young people's media skills to help promote parks and open space in Dorchester. We are accepting applications for a Guest Web Instructor and a Video Production Instructor. Compensation is available.

Filming Volunteer

A City Full of Hope - this is the theme of a 7-10 minute documentary type video we want to create this summer/fall. Experienced help is needed to film, edit, and then produce the project. We have a substantial amount of footage to begin. Contact us to volunteer.

Fair Foods Volunteers

We invite small groups of volunteers (1-3 people) to join us as we prepare and distribute food with Global Ministries Christian Church on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month. Volunteers assist us from 10:00 AM - 12 Noon. Contact us to volunteer.

Christmas Banquet for the Homeless

Join us this Christmas season by donating food and financial gifts to help Starlight Ministries and The Boston Project host a banquet for those homeless on Saturday, December 9, 2006. Check out Christmas Banquet Menu for items needed or make a financial donation today.

Codman Burying Ground - Grand Finale

On Monday, October 9, 2006 (Columbus Day), we are welcoming as many teams and friends as possible to come and help us finish our beautification project of the Codman Burying Ground. We need lots of help; people who can operate chainsaws, drag branches, operate a chipper, prune bushes, etc. Contact us to volunteer.

50' Handicap Ramp

Emergency Need – A friend of The Boston Project had spinal surgery and now needs a ramp to his house. A volunteer team including construction contractors are needed to build the ramp to code. Plans have been drawn and footings are already poured.

Tree Trimming: Adult help is needed to cut back two trees on our property which overhang the street.

Garage Renovations: Adults needed to frame two exterior walls - a great one day project for a church team.

Banquet for the Homeless: On Saturday, December 11th we will help Starlight Ministries host a banquet for the homeless. Pies, cakes, Christmas cookies and delicious side dishes are requested to complement a turkey and ham dinner.

We are so grateful to Bruce and Al from Rhode Island for construction help, Libby from South Carolina for cooking, Sarah's Circle from First Presbyterian Church of Newport for preparing our medical kits, and the women's group from Newton Junction Baptist Church for sewing sleeping bags for the homeless.

2005 Summer Staff

Believe it or not, you can soon apply to join our 2005 summer staff! Twelve positions are open, including staff counselors, program directors, and service & outreach coordinators. Internships are also available for college students. Contact Keith Riddle for more information.

Homework Center

In early October, we open our home on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays to provide consistent homework help for local youth. College students (internships and work study available) and adult volunteers needed. Contact us and help a youth excel personally and academically.

Can You Cook Dinner?

Our Summer Staff work long, hard, intense days at The Boston Project. We invite you to cook a special meal for the team of 14 for Wednesday dinner or Friday lunch. Please contact us if you're willing.

Supervise a Service Project

This summer, we need adults with various skills to help supervise painting, light construction, and drywall repair. Commitment from one to three days. Please contact us if you're interested.

Lasagna Needed!

We need 30 frozen lasagnas for our Summer Mission Program to help feed over 250 participants! Lasagnas can be donated from late May until early August. Please contact us for more information.

A person with typing skills and attention to detail is needed to help with entering names and addresses into a new database.

Renovations Continue

We are in the middle of a 3 year effort to fix up The Boston Project's home for neighborhood outreach. We have indoor and outdoor clean up projects, windows to install, porches to rebuild, painting to be done and much more.
