Our Need for a Home in the City

Our home at 15 Elmhurst Street.
The modern city is a rich harvest in need of workers. Unfortunately, a significant hindrance to investing in urban areas is high cost. In Boston especially, rents are rising astronomically, contributing to a housing crisis. These costs, in addition to working within a variety of cultures, make urban areas a challenging, but rewarding mission field.

The Boston Project and its directors have been residents of Elmhurst Street for the past twelve years and are committed to their neighborhood. The opportunity to purchase a permanent home for the ministry on this street is an answered prayer.

This home will allow the ministry to continue its committed and long-term stake in the neighborhood. It will serve as a gathering place for community groups, an academic resource center and computer lab for neighborhood youth, and will ensure housing for present and future staff.

The Boston Project will also be growing in its role as a community resource, especially as a primary organizer for the development of The Elmhurst Street Children's Park, and as a help to families, the elderly, and the widowed in the area that come to us with their various needs.

A permanent home for this ministry provides stability and an invested presence in our community so that we can continue to meet these needs throughout the life of the organization.
