Is this the house?
Since the first week of January, we have visited over forty 2- and 3-family homes in our neighborhood, and we may have found the one for us! It is a large 2-family home in the Codman Square neighborhood of Dorchester. It is located on a quieter side street, but just steps to Washington Street, a "main street" area with businesses, churches, courthouse, etc. We love the house, its cute city yard, and its proximity to the square, the Boston Project house, and our church.
We are thankful for your prayers so far, and now we ask for your diligent prayers again as we determine if this is the house God has for us. There are still many steps to go through, and we believe if this is God's plan for us, then he will make it happen through the prayers of his people. Here are some specific ways you can pray for us today and through the weekend:
- For a favorable estimate on the amount of work needed to be done. The house needs significant work on heating systems (burst pipes & radiators) and roof.
- For the bank who owns the house to accept a rock-bottom offer. To afford it, we will need to offer around half of what the bank is asking.
- For the ability for us to get a good purchase and rehab loan in this tight lending market, and use our finances wisely.
- For God's continued guidance in our final decision to purchase this property.
