Merry Christmas

"When they saw the star, they were overjoyed."
(Matthew 2:10)

This year, we have been more in touch with the fact that the environment surrounding our Savior's birth wasn't completely calm and serene. The city was packed with people, Herod the ruler was ruthless, and Mary and Joseph's perceived "lack in judgment" as young adults probably raised more than a few eyebrows.

For us though, this chaos doesn't diminish, but rather enhances the powerful message of Jesus' birth. He knew. He chose. He came into this mess as Emmanuel - God with us.

Our past 3 months were not what we expected (it wasn't Sabbath-like or a slowing down). Amongst the fight to save Cady and Grace's school, responding to increased neighborhood needs with fewer staff, and navigating the impact of the economy on our ministry; we have still experienced a holy peace in the midst of life's unexpected moments.

Just like when the Magi saw the star, we too are overjoyed by the signs of "God with us" - even when our world seems a little chaotic.

With much love and appreciation for you; we say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
