The Importance of Jobs as part of Economic Justice

God has recently turned my heart on to the importance of providing jobs. It started a few years ago when we surveyed local teenagers and parents about what was the #1 teenage need. The answer: "Jobs." At that time, we had provided only one job for a local teen. It took a few months, but we reallocated internal resources and time and then created 10 summer jobs for teenagers. This year we hope to employ 25 teenagers.

Jobs open up doors to deeper relationships. Our young people will work somewhere, so why not with us where we also have a holistic approach to caring about their physical, emotional, academic, and spiritual needs as well. This job is one way to care for families. Typically, at least 50%, if not 100%, of our youth's paychecks go right to mom and dad to help pay bills, put food on the table, etc.

Pray with us as we raise the financial resources, hire the staff, and put together a life-changing opportunity for our young people this summer. This is how we do youth ministry in the city.
