Saying Goodbye is Hard
I woke up this morning saddened again by Katie and Catrina's recent departure. Saying goodbye to friends we love impacts us all differently. These two women were shining stars. We invited Katie to join our staff because of who she is - a person with a huge heart for loving people - just like Jesus. She embodied the core of our ministry and touched the lives of many people in three short years. Catrina came to us at the same starting point as Katie did right out of college. Her time with us was shorter, only a year, but it was beautiful to see her blossom further into a minister of the gospel. Katie and Catrina had an eternal impact of the lives of neighborhood children and youth. I envision their time with our young people much like Jesus' time with the disciples - not as a job, it was simply life together with a Godly purpose.
As for myself, my life has been shaped by both of them. Saying goodbye is hard. For Glenna and I, it feels like we are sending off two daughters. If this is a pre-curser to what it will be like it in 10 years when Megan heads off, I'll be a mess.
Only by God's strength, go I.
