Thinking about the KOG

The KOG = the Kingdom Of God.

I am in a new Bible study with 10 other 20-somethings seeking what the Kingdom of God is, where it is and what it means to be a part of it with the intention of then being able to invite others into it as well.

We began the study this past Saturday by reading all the sections of Mark where the KOG is mentioned (at the suggestion of a very wise/humble member of the group) and then grappled with what those sections told us. Here are some of the points we came up with:

Mark 1:14-15 The gospel (good news) IS the Kingdom.
Mark 3:24 The KOG is UNIFIED… it cannot be divided against itself.
Mark 4 Not everyone will be in the KOG.
Mark 4 The Kingdom has an element of Mystery about it
KOG starts with a seed and will mature, grow, be harvested in
natural time
Mark 9 KOG expects justice.
KOG is more valuable than your eye!
KOG is more valuable than comfort.
It is worth leaving many things behind
There are barriers to entering the KOG

Obviously there is more than that just in Mark, and already my understanding of God is being challenged, expanded and hopefully, my life is changing.

Please pray with me as I ask God for more insight and for strength as I allow it to affect my work, friendships and vision for the future.

I pray that you too will be affected by the radical Word of God, the life and teachings of Jesus.
