Holidays and Such.
The hubbub (is that a real word?) of the winter holidays is officially over and everyone is slowly but surely returning back to their routines. As I too am getting back in the swing of things, I have been given a chance to reflect on how blessed I am.
I got to go back to Nashville for Christmas to spend time with my friends and family there. We played cards, slept in our onesies (no this isn't a joke), ate yummy breakfast casserole, and played a strange game of "dirty santa". I have been told that northerners like to refer to this game as "yankee swap". However, our game had a unique twist. We were only allowed to bring gifts that we already owned. It was hilarious to see what kinds of gifts people thought of. My favorites included: a pair of snakeskin shoes, a heater (not a bad idea!), and an old telescope. It was a blessing to spend time with my family and I am so thankful to be loved by them.
I had a fun New Year's with a few friends (from summer staff) that came up to visit. We didn't do a whole lot which was just what I wanted. It's just so good to know that you are loved unconditionally. I laughed a lot. And cried when they left. I love those people and I pray that God will continue to cross our paths (and maybe that they will come back to work for BP :) )
In "New Year's Resolution" news, I have put together a list of my hopeful outlook on the New Year. I've never really been a fan of New Year's resolutions, but what the heck it is a "New Year"...
1. Start learning a new language. Probably Chinese? A few of my friends are moving to Hong Kong and I think it might be fun to learn alongside of them.
2. GET MORE EXERCISE. (Isn't this one of everyones?)
3. Start video journaling. So my kids can see what I was like when I was "young".
4. Master guitar playing. I just haven't been committed enough...until now!
I'm excited to be stepping into 2009 and can't wait to see how faithful our God is!
Emily
