January / February Update

"But he said to me, 'My grace is suffi cient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' erefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me." ~ 2 Corinthians 12:9

Changes
It's a new year, and things are changing quickly around here. I don't particularly love change,
so when Katie, Catrina and Kelly left in December to pursue the plans God has for them, I
was left feeling sad and uncertain about the future. e thing that scared me the most about
this change is that suddenly I would be 'old' in e Boston Project world, and would no longer
be able to shy away from roles of leadership. I often feel like I am not up to the challenge, and
point out to myself the millions of reasons why I won't succeed, rational or not.
Over the past few weeks though, I have continually been reminded, "God's grace is suffi cient
for me, His power is made perfect in my weakness." Paul boasted in his weaknesses, knowing
full well that the areas in which he fell short are the areas where Christ would show up and
show Himself to be strong.

He has been teaching me that instead of being scared or feeling like I can't do something
and then in turn not doing it, I need to trust in Him to work through my weaknesses. As a
close friend pointed out to me, I am in a season of "refi nement and preparation for spiritual
leadership." When she said that, I freaked out! I don't see myself as a spiritual leader. But
again, "my grace is suffi cient, my power is made perfect in weakness." As it says in one of
my favorite books:

Prince Caspian: " I do not think I am ready."
Aslan: "It is for that very reason that I know you are."

Pray for me as I continue to be refi ned and take steps of faith outside my comfort zone into
areas where I consider myself to be weak.

Please Join Me In Prayer
• Pray for the continued generous support that keeps this ministry running, especially in
light of the economic downturn. Pray for our newest staff member, David Rameau, as
he arrives and settles in.
• My apartment is transitioning. Pray for Haley, our new roommate, as she moves in and
settles into a community that is completely new to her. Pray for Jackie, Hilary and I as
we grow in our relationships with Haley and with each other.
• Pray for the young people in our neighborhood, especially those recently returned from
the IMPACT conference in Atlanta. Pray for commitments they have made to follow
God with their whole heart, and that they would know Jesus in a new way this year.
• Continue to pray for me as I look for a church home in Codman Square.

Financial Update - Thank You!
is past spring, I began the adventure of support raising to help keep me here at e Boston
Project, and I must say THANK YOU to all who helped meet that need. In 2009, it will take
a team of current and new friends to continue to support my involvement in God's work here.
is year, $5,000 of my salary will come from my missionary support-raising (that's $417
per month from people like you!). is is an increase of almost 35% from what I raised last
year. Please consider a monthly or a special gift to help me reach my goal!
