Our Mission: We are a Christian community development organization that mobilizes residents and volunteers in projects to help build and nurture strong communities.

Our Objective: TBPM works to create a thriving community and fulfill our mission by: involving neighbors as leaders in community improvement projects, investing in local youth and families, and providing new resources (e.g., technical assistance, volunteer manpower) within the community we serve.

Our Model: Our mission is anchored in our model of establishing Neighborhood Ministry Houses in under-resourced communities. Neighbors utilize these safe havens as gathering places, resource centers, and centralized locations for volunteer engagement and community organizing. TBPM has been developing this model since our inception in 1995, based on our own experience and the tenets of the Christian Community Development Association (a national association of practitioners doing similar work throughout the country).

Our Vision: Our long-term vision is to establish five (5) ministry houses in Boston by 2020.

Our Activities: TBPM plays a vital role in the community not only by offering tangible services and opportunities, but also by building bridges between neighbors from different streets, various cultures, and between youth and adults. Through neighborhood activities designed to promote social, spiritual and civic engagement, TBPM provides chances for residents to interact with other groups with whom they might not otherwise interact - including elected officials, police officers, suburban partners, and greenspace experts.

  • We seek to renew urban neighborhoods physically, socially, and spiritually. We build mutually caring relationships with our neighbors. We partner with local churches, community groups, and service organizations to realize a shared vision for the neighborhood. TBPM invests in at-risk children and youth by providing programs that address their educational, social, and spiritual needs.
TBPM assists low income homeowners and non-profit organizations by making urgent repairs and improvements to their properties.

  • We accomplish our mission by mobilizing, training, and equipping volunteers. We engage people of all ages from urban, suburban and rural communities in compassionate service characterized by giving to and receiving from those served.

  • We multiply our efforts by promoting leadership development. We cultivate neighborhood leadership amongst youth and adults to govern and direct our work. We provide staff training, internships, networking opportunities and technical assistance to individuals, groups and churches engaging in urban service ministries.
